Good morning.... or should I say, afternoon... worked 12 hours yesterday, kinda hard to keep track....
Found a Helicopter Forum on RCUniverse.com... very dangerous. Ordered a few things.
Well, my Bike is out... Rode it Sunday for awhile, and yesterday, wow, it was 80 degrees here, record highs... I've had colder rides in July. And I'm not kidding.
As soon as I got home from work, the phone rings, I gotta go back. Nice. Okay, I'm thinking this is big trouble.
And it was, kind of... we have replaceable cartridges in certain things, and they can be replaced... they can also be restarted. Which this one looked like it would, but a boss somewhere said no, replace it.
So, after touring the world for several hours, we have no replacement cartridges... no parts for this thing at all...
Now, accountants, for years, have been winnowing down our replacement parts cabinets, to save money "on paper" somewhere... and even though I have a business degree, you'll have to explain to me how moving parts from the field, where they are needed, into a warehouse someplace, where they collect dust, and don't halp anyone, actually saves us one thin dime... because I don't get it.
So, note to idiot accountants: if you're going to pay me big money to drive around all night long, and still not find the part... ahh, look donkeys, it woulda been cheaper if the part was right there... and, as a little "side" benefit, the problem would actually be FIXED!!
Ahh, enough about that. I know, all that sweet money keeps me in bacon cheeseburgers, and Harleys, and Cadillacs, and electric helicopters, and Xbox 360's... I know. At heart, I'm just a tech. I see a problem, I want to fix it. Like a doggie wants to chase a squirrel out of the yard, I want to fix it. Driving around, rummaging through cabinets looking for parts that aren't there, arguing with people on the phone... that's not fixing it. There's plenty of "colorful" terms to describe what THAT is...
If you're not watching "Criss Angel: Mindfreak" on A&E, you need to be. This guy is awesome. And, I'll admit, I also really dig his heavy metal motorcycle Las Vegas lifestyle.... I wanna BE Criss Angel... okay, maybe not, but it's a great show... If you like Magic, Illusions, Mentalism... check this guy out.
You also need to be watching "Futureweapons" and "Dirty Jobs" on Discovery. Wonderful.
I personally am really tired of "Deadliest Catch", but that's just me... I can't believe OSHA doesn't just fly up to Dutch Harbor and shut those dudes down....
Also, this season of "High Stakes Poker" on GSN (Game Show Network) has been wonderful... check it out. Very interesting to see the differences between a cash game and a tournament...
I also read a couple books by Steven Coonts. "Cuba", while the plot seems a little dated, was very good. Well above average for the military fiction genre. Nicely done. Also, "Liars and Thieves" is outstanding, a real departure for him, more of a spy espionage thing... excellent characters, fully fleshed out, with great lines, great plot, great pacing... really good book.
Well, today's going to be a joke, I can tell already... I just got up, it's practically time to go back to work....
Time for a bacon cheeseburger, I think... don't go light on the bacon now, come on...
